Dippel’s 358-Modified Qualifying Time Disallowed

2:30 p.m. — DIRTcar Racing officials announced this afternoon that Tyler Dippel’s second-fastest qualifying lap in Thursday afternoon’s Salute to the Troops 358-Modified Championship 150 time trials was disallowed because a post-qualifying technical inspection found that the fuel he used did not meet DIRTcar rules and specifications.

As a result, the 15-year-old Dippel will not become the youngest driver in the history of NAPA Super DIRT Week to start from the front row of the 358-Modified 150. He now must start from the rear of the first heat race (30th starting spot), giving him an uphill climb to make the starting field of Saturday’s headline event in his first-ever appearance at the Syracuse Mile.

Dippel’s disqualification moved seventh-fastest qualifier Stewart Friesen into a locked-in position for the 150, which he will start from the sixth starting spot.
