OSWEGO, NY – Sept. 29, 2016 – Racing’s biggest party has found a new stage 35 miles north of Syracuse at Oswego Speedway in Oswego, NY. Oswego, a historic paved, half-mile track, has been covered with clay for the first time since 1952 to accommodate NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week, which has been around since 1972.

 

Here are some of the numbers that define NAPA Super DIRT Week:

 

200,000 – The total pounds of steel used for the upgraded back grandstands.

 

50,000 – The winner of Sunday’s Bud Light 300 will leave the track $50,000 richer.

 

11,757 – The total number of seats at Oswego Speedway (5,535 front stretch and 6,222 back stretch).

 

9,600 – It took approximately 9,600 cubic yards of clay to cover Oswego Speedway (600 truck loads).

 

813 – The total number of 25’x50’ Camping Spots now at Oswego Speedway.

 

600 – The total number of Reserved Parking spots now at Oswego Speedway.

 

304 – The total number of Pit Stalls at Oswego Speedway during NAPA Super DIRT Week.

 

187.5 – The number of miles that will be traveled in Sunday’s Bud Light 300 around Oswego Speedway.

 

86.7 – The total acreage of the Oswego Speedway property.

 

45 – Super DIRT Week, first started in 1972, is now in its 45th year!

 

41 – The number of cars that will start the Bud Light 300 on Sunday.

 

21 – The number of different drivers who have stood in Victory Lane in the past 44 years of Super DIRT Week.

 

11 – The number of repeat winners in the past 44 years of Super DIRT Week.

 

6 – The number of time Brett Hearn, with the most Super DIRT Week wins, has won the week’s Super
      DIRTcar Series Big-Block Modified feature (2012, 1995, 1993, 1991, 1990 and 1985).

 

2 – The total miles of permanent and temporary fencing placed on the property for Super DIRT week.

About the Track:

Oswego Speedway in Oswego, N.Y. was converted from a horse track into a 3/8-mile dirt track built in 1951 by its original owners, Harry, George and William Caruso. The track was paved in 1952 and remained a 3/8-mile track until 1961, when it was enlarged to its current 5/8-mile size. The speedway is currently owned and operated by the Torrese family.
