Camper Staging at Rolling Wheels Becomes New Tradition
Camper Caravan from “The Fast Track” to “The Moody Mile” kicks off NAPA Super DIRT Week
WEEDSPORT, N.Y. – Sept. 20, 2012 – Last year, for the first time ever, campers awaiting entry to the New York State Fairgrounds for NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week staged at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park. Avid fans lined up early Tuesday to lay claim to the best spot in line so, come Wednesday, they could caravan from Elbridge to Syracuse and claim the best camping spots.
State regulations banning overnight camping on “the hill” across the street from the New York State Fairgrounds led to the relocation, but last year’s success made Wednesday morning’s 20-mile camper parade more than just acquiescence to the law – it became the week’s kickoff captured by local television news programs, one of the many reasons for the slogan, “There’s Only One Super DIRT Week.”
Again this year, camping will be available at Rolling Wheels leading up to NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLI. Fans who wish to park campers outside the New York State Fairgrounds may still do so, but per New York State law they cannot stay there overnight.
Order numbers will be distributed at both the pre-staging area for campers at Rolling Wheels Raceway and across from the New York State Fairgrounds, for those parties leaving their campers unattended. Parties will receive order numbers based on time of arrival, regardless of staging location.
On the morning of Wednesday, Oct. 3, just prior toFairgrounds gates opening to the public, parties camping at Rolling Wheels Raceway will caravan to the New York State Fairgrounds and campers will filter into line based on the number they received when checking in at either location.
NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLI officially opens on Wednesday, Oct. 3, with inspection and practice for all divisions and leads up to the biggest dirt-modified race in the world, the VP Small Engine Fuels 200 on Sunday, Oct. 7. Don’t miss out on a chance to be part of history.
