40th Anniversary Super DIRT Week Schedule Announced SEF 200 feature on Sunday at 2pm
Syracuse, NY – July 29, 2011– DIRTcar Racing officials announced one of the most ambitious Super DIRT Week schedules in years today in making the 40th anniversary bigger and more memorable than ever. The spectacular five consecutive days of action that will feature the WoO Late Model, WoO Sprint Car and Super DIRTcar Series will culminate with the SEF 200 presented by Snapper and Ferris at 2 p.m. on Oct. 9, 2011 at the famed ‘Moody Mile’ located at the NewYork State Fairgrounds.
“Super DIRT Week is the biggest annual dirt racing event in the world, on and off the track,” said DIRTcar Racing Northeast Series Director Joe Skotnicki. “Everybody is excited to be a part of the 40th anniversary of Super DIRT Week and to see the green flag wave at 2 p.m. on Sunday. There’s nothing else like it in sports, you really have to be there.”
This year’s Super DIRT Week opens at the NYS Fairgrounds on Wednesday, Oct. 6, with Modified ‘Happy Hour’ and moves to Cayuga County Fair Speedway that evening for a Mr. DIRT 358-modified event. The traditional ‘Media Day’ at the John Hill Infield Media Center kicks off Thursday’s action, followed by Bilstein Shocks Time Trials for both Big-Blocks and 358-Modifieds. Thursday evening the action moves to The ‘Fast Track’, Rolling Wheels Raceway Park, in nearby Elbridge, NY for the return of the WoO Late Model Series coupled with the traditional Mr. DIRT 358-Modified feature.
Friday, October 7th the “lights go on” and the Super DIRTcar Series take center stage as the headlined Big-Block Modified Triple 20 and 358-Modified Twin 20 qualifying races will run under the lights for the first-time ever on the ‘Moody Mile’. This will set the field for both Saturday and Sunday’s modified championship events.
Many of the same open-wheel stars that will battle in Sunday’s SEF 200 will be showcased Saturday, October 8th in the ‘Salute the Troops’ 150 358-Modified Championship at the NYS Fairgrounds. That evening the racing moves to Rolling Wheels Raceway Park as ‘The Greatest Show on Dirt’, WoO Sprint Car Series, battle in Twin-25 features.
The 40th Anniversary celebration is highlighted on Sunday at 2pm in the highly-anticipated SEF 200 presented by Snapper and Ferris at the NYS Fairgrounds ‘Moody Mile’. “I am so excited to have the opportunity to be a part of racing under the lights for the first-time ever, the 40th anniversary celebration of Super DIRT Week and one of only two events in the country where you can see the three premier dirt car series battle on one-weekend”, stated General Manager Jeff Hachmann. “Central New York is home to one of the biggest motorsports events in the country and this is one year fans are not going to want to miss”, continued Hachmann.
