Bringing in more than 30,000 people throughout the week – nearly doubling the town’s population – the 51st edition of Super DIRT Week at Oswego Speedway presents a full itinerary for fans throughout the week.

Before getting to Sunday’s (Oct. 8) main attraction, the $51,000-to-win, 200-lap, Billy Whittaker Cars 200, featuring the local and international stars of the Super DIRTcar Series, the excitement kicks off seven days prior. Early load in begins for eager campers and competitors on Sunday, Oct. 1, at 9 a.m.. Then, Lighthouse Lanes will host a massive kickoff party with food and drinks for fans from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The official first day of Super DIRT Week begins on Monday, Oct. 2, with the Gate 6 ticket booth opening up at 9 a.m. and the second annual Bart Contracting Co. Charity Golf Tournament taking place at Radisson Greens Golf Course in Baldwinsville at 11 a.m. This year, all proceeds of the event go to benefit cancer research, in honor of northeast media member Don Davies, and suicide prevention, in honor of former World of Outlaws CASE Construction Equipment Late Model Series announcer Rick Eshelman.

DIRTcar Day returns on Wednesday, Oct. 4, encouraging all fans to wear their favorite dirt racing apparel as the roar of V8 engines come to life that day. It’s a roar that will echo throughout downtown Oswego at noon during the fan-favorite Super DIRT Week parade. Fifty cars competing in the event will make a lap through the city for a sight seen nowhere else in the country.

After the cars make their way back to Oswego Speedway, all four divisions competing in the event – the Super DIRTcar Series Big Block Modifieds, DIRTcar 358 Modifieds, DIRTcar Sportsman and DIRTcar Pro Stocks – will get practice laps from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. – which is free for fans to watch from the front stretch grandstands.

DIRTcar 358 Modified and DIRTcar Sportsman drivers will then ventured south to Brewerton Speedway in Central Square, NY to compete in the 30th Hurricane Harvey 75. For the fans still in Oswego, there will be a DJ performing at the Island Stage at 8 p.m. – which will also take place Thursday through Saturday.

Saturday night will bring the biggest bash of the week with a DJ at 8 p.m., a live concert at 10:30 p.m. and then more DJ action at 1:30 a.m.

Racing action starts on Thursday with time trials and Qualifying Heats for the DIRTcar Pro Stocks and DIRTcar 358 Modifieds. Then, the Super DIRTcar Series and DIRTcar Sportsman will time trial and run their Qualifying Heats on Friday. It’s two eventful days of drivers trying to lock into their division’s Feature event.

The first two Feature events of the week will take place Saturday night with the DIRTcar Pro Stock 50 at 4 p.m. and the DIRTcar 358 Modified Salute to the Troops 150 at 6 p.m.

Then, the music, the food, the activities, and the racing, all lead to Sunday’s the grand finale. An autograph session with the Top 30 drivers locked into the Billy Whittaker Cars 200 helps kick off the day at noon before on-track action starts with the DIRTcar Sportsman Chevrolet Performance 75 at 3 p.m. After the checkered flag falls for the Sportsman, the Big Block Modified stars will line their cars on the front stretch and be introduced on stage one by one.

The green flag will follow, commencing 200 laps of edge-of-your-seat Big Block Modified racing around the 5/8-mile dirt track.

Matt Sheppard, of Waterloo, NY, emerged the victor last year for his third Billy Whittaker Cars 200 title. This year, with an all-new format for pit stops, shaking up the strategy of the race, it’ll be a 200-lap marathon like never before.
