Super DIRT Week Rule, Schedule Changes Improve Competition
Added Practice Sessions for Big-Block Modifieds, Mandatory Tire Change Pit Stop to Improve Competitor Experience
WEEDSPORT, N. Y. – The NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLI competitor guide is now available, and DIRTcar officials have made certain noticeable changes to schedules and rules to improve the competitor experience.
Added practice sessions for the Big-Block Modifieds Saturday, Oct. 6, in preparation for Sunday’s VP Small Engine Fuels 200 help drivers gear up for the “Moody Mile,” a unique track most drivers consider a class all its own. With Super DIRT Week the only chance drivers get to tackle “the Mile” and with many teams building new cars for the fabled 200-lapper, these extra practice times, which straddle the Gander Mountain 150 championship race for the DIRTcar 358-Modified Series, will give drivers greater familiarity with the conditions they may face come race day.
Additional practice sessions Sunday allow non-qualified drivers and teams to develop greater familiarity of the track while also giving officials time to perform inspection of qualified cars.
A mandatory pit stop after the 100th lap of the VP Small Engine Fuels 200 requiring all teams to change the right rear tire gives all teams the additional opportunity to fuel up without being at a disadvantage. Additionally, changes to fuel cell rules require a rack to be fastened around the fuel cell, serving as a cost effective way to prevent expansion and cell volume inequities.
NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week, which runs from Wednesday, Oct. 3, through Sunday, Oct. 7, at the New York State Fairgrounds with satellite events Wednesday at Cayuga County Fair Speedway and Thursday and Saturday at Rolling Wheels Raceway Park.
The Super DIRTcar Series and DIRTcar Racing in the Northeast Region is brought to fans by several sponsors and partners including Hoosier Racing Tire, VP Racing Fuels, Chevy Performance Parts, Gander Mountain, NAPA Auto Parts, Nationwide Insurance, and Safety-Kleen.
