Syracuse, NY – October 9, 2010 – Race rookie Jeremy Pitts and fairgrounds veteran Jay Corbin bested a stellar field in Terrell’s Potato Chips Time Trials on a sunny Saturday afternoon, posting the best times to earn front row starting spots in the BNC Motorsports Pro Stock Championship saved for Sunday on the Syracuse Mile.
Pitts was the quickest out of 41 full-fender entries to run under the clocks, posting a one-lap average speed of 100.438 mph (35.843 sec.) to collect the $500 Terrell’s Potato Chips Pole Award. Corbin toured the storied Salt City oval in a time of 36.149 sec. for second-best speed of 99.588 mph and earned $250.
Overall Hoosier Tire-VP Racing Fuels Mr. DIRTcar Pro Stock Championship Series points leader Joey Ladouceur was actually second fastest in qualifying yet lost his time in the customary post time trial inspection due to a carburetion infraction,
The top-24 drivers are now locked into the starting grid for Sunday’s BNC Motorspotrs Pro Stock Championship event. Following the fast times posted by Pitts and Corbin to round out the top six drivers were another race rookie Rocky Warner, two-time 2010 series race winner Rob Yetman, Lebanon Valley Speedway mainstay Chad Jeseo and Mohawk Int’l Raceway regular Jody Swamp.
A last chance qualifier is slated for Sunday morning on the Moody Mile to fill out the starting grid, with the eventual BNC 25 winner taking home the first-place check of $2,000.
