Oswego Speedway Steel Palace to Clay Palace Transformation Gallery

The drop heard around the Northeast took place on Monday, Sept. 8, when the first load of clay was placed on Oswego Speedway to start the track’s transformation into the “Clay Palace” for Super DIRT Week 53 (Oct. 6-11).

More than 500 truckloads of clay will be placed around the 5/8-mile track – a process led by John Wight and his team. Special dozers with GPS technology help lay out the clay to the perfect height and degree of banking in the corners.

Along with the dirt being placed on the track, ticket offices will be built around the facility, the grounds will be prepared for more than 900 campers, and part of Albany Street will be closed to be used at the frontstretch midway.
