{"id":15036,"date":"2024-08-08T11:34:07","date_gmt":"2024-08-08T15:34:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/superdirtweek.com\/?p=15036"},"modified":"2024-08-08T11:34:07","modified_gmt":"2024-08-08T15:34:07","slug":"zach-sobotka-eager-for-super-dirt-week-return","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/superdirtweek.com\/dirtcar-ne\/zach-sobotka-eager-for-super-dirt-week-return\/","title":{"rendered":"Zach Sobotka Eager For Super DIRT Week Return"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">In the past three seasons, no one has been better in the <em>Chevrolet Performance 75 <\/em>at Super DIRT Week than Zach Sobotka.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Since winning in 2021, the Parish, NY driver has earned back-to-back third-place finishes in the DIRTcar Sportsman Feature at Oswego Speedway.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">And despite falling short the last two years, Sobotka said he\u2019s confident another Super DIRT Week victory is coming.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI go into every race planning on winning it,\u201d Sobotka said. \u201cThat\u2019s me and all my guys that help me. We\u2019re going to every race thinking we\u2019re going to win. I would\u2019ve liked to see what would\u2019ve happened last year, but we always seem to have a pretty good car at Oswego, and something\u2019s come up the past couple of years, and we couldn\u2019t win it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">With only one stop at Oswego each season, the track is a neutral ground for all DIRTcar Sportsman drivers. But for Sobotka, it\u2019s a track he\u2019s excited about each year since he\u2019s found a setup he likes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s not close to any other track we get to run on,\u201d Sobotka said. \u201cI feel like we got lucky and hit on something a couple of years ago, and every year since, we\u2019ve been going the same way. It\u2019s definitely pretty fun to drive around that track. You can\u2019t really experience it at any other track.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">While Sobotka knows the formula for success in the Chevy Performance 75, all DIRTcar Sportsman drivers will face a challenge before the Feature.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">With a division that\u2019s boasted 100-plus cars entered at Super DIRT Week in the past, Qualifying becomes a vital step toward winning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIt\u2019s definitely hard,\u201d Sobotka said. \u201cSometimes [Qualifying] helps out a lot because you make your own bed in them. It\u2019s definitely pretty hard. We don\u2019t normally race against 100-plus cars every weekend, especially against a bunch of cars you don\u2019t get to race against. You don\u2019t really know what they do on the track.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThe main challenge is Qualifying. And if you get lucky in Qualifying, anything can happen in the Feature.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">As Sobotka prepares for Super DIRT Week 52, there\u2019s another feat he\u2019s aiming for in 2024.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">He\u2019s searching for his first DIRTcar Sportsman Series championship after finishing second the last three years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">Super DIRT Week is just one stop on the road to the championship, which begins on Sunday, Aug. 11, at Glen Ridge Motorsports Park.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe\u2019ve finished second three years in a row now,\u201d Sobotka said. \u201cIt\u2019s all to different people. It\u2019s looking like we\u2019re in the best shape we\u2019ve been in the championship Series so far. We have good confidence going into Glen Ridge, Sunday, so I hope it pays off.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400\">The DIRTcar Sportsman Series stops at Oswego Speedway during\u00a0<em>Super DIRT Week 52<\/em>, with the\u00a0<em>Chevrolet Performance<\/em>\u00a075 on Saturday, Oct. 12.
