Rob Yetman locks in the pole for Sunday’s NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLII BACC-OFF DIRTcar Pro Stock Championship
Top 24 positions set for Sunday’s 25-lap Pro Stock race
SYRACUSE, N. Y. – Saturday, Oct. 12, 2013 – Castleton’s Rob Yetman sped his way to the top starting spot in the BACC-OFF DIRTcar Pro Stock Championship after setting fast time during time trials Saturday, Oct. 12, at the New York State Fairgrounds. Yetman will start at the inside pole for Sunday’s 25-lap championship round with defending event champion Pete Stefanski at the outside pole.
“It’s the best place to start around here, that’s for sure,” said Yetman, who has been gaining momentum all season with eight wins at his home track and a track championship, plus a DIRTcar Pro Stock Series win in July. “When you have a year like that, the momentum seems to carry.”
Yetman finished fifth in last year’s NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week BACC-OFF DIRTcar Pro Stock Championship round with Stefanski picking up the win. After his success yesterday, Yetman is confident rolling into Sunday, even if he’ll be sharing the front row with Stefanski.
“We haven’t touched the car all weekend, just nuts and bolts. We’re not going to change anything for tomorrow either,” Yetman said. “It’s been substantially quick, and handling – it’s been a dream to drive. I don’t really want to mess with it at all.”
Saturday’s Pro Stock time trial set the first 24 spots in Sunday’s field. The remaining six positions in the 30-car field will be determined by Last Chance Qualifiers before the race Sunday. Green flag for the NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week XLII BACC-OFF DIRTcar Pro Stock Championship is scheduled for noon Sunday, Oct. 13.
