Oswego, NY — Oct. 7, 2016 — Night racing at the 45th Annual NAPA Auto Parts Super DIRT Week has been long in the making and worth the wait.
“It was a lot of work what we did to get to this point in 70 days. A project like this usually takes 8 months to do, so to finally kick it off means we’re here,” says Jeff Hachmann, Director of Events for DIRTcar Racing.
The Camping World Friday Night Lights Opening Ceremony was dedicated to Canada, the United States of America and our troops.
Melissa “Mimi” Lazzaro — daughter of Lou Lazzaro, a Dirt Motorsports Hall of Fame member — has sung the U.S. National Anthem at seven of the past eight NAPA Super DIRT Week opening ceremonies.
“I saw the military gentleman walking around, and that’s really what [the pre-race ceremony] is about: the military, America and racing. Doing this and being here makes me proud to be an American,” says Lazzaro.
Tonight’s ceremony was just a sneak peak of what is to come during the next two days at Oswego Speedway.
“I think Saturday is what everything is building up to. I’m really looking forward to tomorrow with the surprise we have for the [Riccelli-Northern] Salute to the Troops 150 with all of the soldiers that are going to be here. That’s going to be awesome,” says Stephen Whitacre, Event Coordinator of Super DIRT Week.
Tomorrow’s Riccelli-Northern Salute to the Troops 150 will begin at 2:00 p.m. Catch NAPA Super DIRT Week live on DirtVision.com.
